My Day in Killeen, TX
I had no idea what a fun city I would be discovering when I spent a day in Killeen, TX. I should’ve known there would be plenty to keep me occupied in this city, with Fort Hood being so close by. Since so many of the soldiers that are stationed there have families, the entertainment options in the city have grown rapidly in recent years to accommodate all of their needs. Before I ventured off on my trip, I searched the Killeen Chamber of Commerce website to gather some ideas on what to do during my stay.
I came across a really exciting place that combines my love of science and rock music. The Mayborn Science Theater is located right on campus at Central Texas College. The planetarium offers both star shows and laser light shows under its 60-foot dome.
While I had seen planetarium star shows before, I had never experienced a laser light show. The theater offers laser light shows on Fridays, so when my eyes landed on the 8 p.m. Laser U2 show, I couldn’t contain my excitement. Twelve of the most popular U2 songs were played over a 45-minute period in sync with an eye-popping laser light display. It was amazing and I would definitely go again, maybe to see the Laser Metallica show next time.
